Four imperial cities. Four dynasties. Five days to understand them properly.

Morocco's four imperial cities — Fez, Meknes, Rabat, Casablanca — are the backbone of the country's history. Four capitals, four different dynasties, four completely different personalities. Five days is the right amount of time to feel each one without rushing through any of them.

Fez is the centrepiece. The medina of Fez el-Bali is the largest living medieval city in the world — 9,000 lanes, no cars, unchanged in its essential character for a thousand years. Hassan knows it the way very few guides do: not as a tourist circuit but as a living place.

The itinerary below is a starting point. Every detail — accommodation type, pace, depth of cultural engagement, optional extensions — is adapted to your group before you arrive.

Stop 01

Fez el-Bali Medina

The largest living medieval city in the world. 9,000 lanes, no cars, a thousand years of continuous habitation. The Bou Inania Madrasa, the brass souk, the spice market, the Jewish Mellah.

Stop 02

Chouara Tanneries & Qarawiyyin

The famous leather dye pits seen properly from above — with context from Hassan, not from a carpet shop roof. The Qarawiyyin mosque, founded 859 AD, the world's oldest continuously operating university.

Stop 03

Volubilis & Meknes

The best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco — a UNESCO site in the Middle Atlas foothills. Then Meknes, the imperial city of Sultan Moulay Ismail, with its monumental gates and granaries.

Stop 04

Rabat — The Royal Capital

Undervisited and quietly extraordinary. The Kasbah of the Udayas above the Atlantic, the Tour Hassan, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and a medina that has never needed to perform for tourists.

Stop 05

Casablanca & Hassan II Mosque

The third-largest mosque in the world, built over the Atlantic with a retractable roof and a minaret visible from 60km at sea. The Art Deco boulevards and modern Morocco that the medinas don't show.

Flexible Meals & Stays

Your comfort comes first. All meals — breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks — are just recommendations and can be easily adjusted to match your tastes, dietary needs, or special requests.

For overnight stays, we offer a hand-picked selection of riads and hotels in each destination, so you can choose what fits your style, comfort, and budget. Our goal is a smooth, enjoyable, and personalized experience from start to finish.

Day 01

Arrival in Fez: First Light in the Medina

Begin your journey in Fez, Morocco's spiritual and cultural capital. Upon arrival at Fez-Saïss Airport or the central train station, you are warmly welcomed and transferred to your riad.

Your accommodation is carefully selected inside or at the edge of the medina — location is critical in Fez, where proximity defines your entire experience.

In the late afternoon, step into the rhythm of the ancient city with a guided walk through the historic Andalusian Quarter. Visit the architectural masterpiece of Bou Inania Madrasa, one of the few religious buildings in Morocco open to non-Muslims.

As the sun sets, experience the medina in its most atmospheric moment — just before the call to prayer echoes through its labyrinthine streets. End your day with a traditional Moroccan dinner in an elegant riad setting.

Day 02

Fez el-Bali: A Deep Dive into the Oldest Medina in the World

Explore Fez el-Bali, a UNESCO-listed medieval city and one of the largest car-free urban zones on Earth.

Begin with the iconic Chouara Tannery, viewed from an authentic panoramic terrace — not the typical tourist stops — offering both perspective and cultural context.

Continue to the legendary University of al-Qarawiyyin, founded in 859 AD and recognized as the oldest existing university in the world.

Wander through the vibrant brass souks, aromatic spice markets, and the historic Mellah (Jewish Quarter), each revealing a different layer of Fez's rich heritage.

Pause in the late afternoon for mint tea on a panoramic rooftop, overlooking the timeless chaos of the medina.

Day 03

Volubilis & Meknes: Roman Ruins and Imperial Grandeur

Depart Fez for a day of historical contrast.

First, visit Volubilis, Morocco's best-preserved Roman site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set against the rolling hills of the Middle Atlas, Volubilis offers stunning mosaics, triumphal arches, and a glimpse into ancient North Africa.

Continue to Meknes, one of Morocco's four imperial cities and the legacy of Sultan Moulay Ismail.

Marvel at Bab Mansour, widely considered one of the most impressive gates in North Africa, and explore the quieter, more relaxed medina compared to Fez.

Day 04

Rabat: Morocco's Elegant Royal Capital

Travel to Rabat, a coastal capital where history and modern governance coexist seamlessly.

Discover the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas, dramatically perched above the Atlantic Ocean and the Bou Regreg River, offering sweeping panoramic views.

Visit the iconic Hassan Tower and the adjacent Mausoleum of Mohammed V, an architectural symbol of modern Morocco.

Stroll through Rabat's medina and Mellah, then follow the scenic Salé corniche along the river for a peaceful end to the day.

Day 05

Casablanca & Departure: Morocco's Modern Face

Conclude your journey in Casablanca, the country's economic hub and a city of striking contrasts.

Visit the extraordinary Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, dramatically built over the Atlantic Ocean and featuring a retractable roof.

Explore the Art Deco architecture of the Maarif district and enjoy a final stroll along the Atlantic Corniche.

Transfer to Mohammed V International Airport for your departure, marking the end of an unforgettable Moroccan journey.

Can we customise the itinerary?

Yes — this is the default framework. Every detail is adapted before you arrive based on your interests, pace preferences, and accommodation style. Some travellers want more time in Fez; others want to add or swap destinations. Aymane designs around your trip, not a template.

How does payment work?

A 30% deposit by Wise or bank transfer to confirm the booking and allow Aymane to reserve accommodation. The balance in cash to Hassan on the first day. Aymane sends a full itemised quote before any deposit is requested.

What is the best time of year for this journey?

March–May and September–November are ideal — mild temperatures everywhere. Summer (June–August) is very hot inland. December–February can be cold in the north but beautifully uncrowded. Aymane advises on seasonal timing when you enquire.

Is this suitable for families with children?

Yes — many of our best journeys have been with families. Hassan is experienced with children and knows how to adapt the pace and content to keep them engaged. Aymane adjusts the itinerary for family travel when designing your journey.
